Staged Reading of "Flowers for Myself"

Sept. 18, 2016

My friend, director, actor, photographer, playwright JAMES METROPOLE, always said he had a part he wanted me to play in one of his unperformed plays. It's a lovely little play which centers on a dialogue between a mother and daughter on the day the daughter informs her that she is moving out and into her own apartment. Since her husband left her, my character has put her life around her daughter so she is not happy to have her daughter arbitrarily leave her just to have her own apartment. CHRISTINA MILLER (above, with Jim and me) plays my daughter.

We had great fun today, meeting in a private home of an actor performing in another one of Jim's plays, to table read one of three plays to a small audience of friends and comrades. Since these three plays had not gotten a theater run when Jim had his theater, he wanted to be able to hear the dialogue performed. All three plays were a great success.
