26 PEBBLES - a Must-See Play We All Can Learn From

July 15, 2018

Last night I attended a play called 26 PEBBLES written by Eric Ulloa at the T.U. Studios in North Hollywood, CA. It was directed by my actor friend JOE LORENZO (pictured to the left with me) whom I met in Chris Game's Over 40s acting class.

This brilliant play touches you deeply as it is about the New Town residents coping with the aftermath of the Sandyhook massacre of their young children, in their own words. The dialogue was taken from the interviews but the actors created individual characters based on how the dialogue spoke to them.

The actors were awesome, each undertaking multiple characters. I marveled at how flawless and individualistic each character was. They touched your heart, your gut and your soul with emotional, and yet restrained performances which could have easily gone over the top in lesser hands. All the actors were brilliant, but my favorites were ANTHONY MARQUEZ (pictured with me to the right) and JAMES PATRICK because of the deftness with which they portrayed emotion -- making us feel their tightly held in feelings.

Joe did a great job directing this meaningful play and I learned a lot about performing as well as how people cope with horrific events that will scar us all for life. My brother is a teacher and my ex was a teacher. Whoever thought becoming a teacher is a dangerous profession? My nephew is still in school. Whoever thought going to school is worrying every day if you get to go home? That's not the academic world I grew up in.

So happy that I went to see this show. I gained so much.
