Playing Rose on stage in REPRESENTATIVE MISBEHAVIOR
Sept 27, 2019
Opening night of our play: REPRESENTATIVE MISBEHAVIOR.
At the Grove Theater Center in Burbank. My first professional stage play, which will run for 4 weeks for a total of 16 performances. The political farce is brilliantly written by veteran TV comedy writer Tom Walla and directed by Flint Esquerra for Neo Ensemble Theater Co.
The play revolves around a state representative being suddenly nominated for governor by his party so they can use his squeaky clean image to rehabilitate the image left by their former nominee's misadventures. Just as quickly his life unravels through the chaos of a call girl, a suspicious wife, a snooping reporter, an enraged donor and an overly eager temp worker. My role is as one of the ladies of the local women's club -- think DAR, Daughters of the American Revolution -- there to give our state representative an honor for his honesty and integrity.
My neighbors Jerome and Rhonda Garrett came to the opening night performance to support me. I was so touched by the gesture. Since my scene is in the second act, it was a long wait but worth it. I had a great time doing it. It was so much fun and it went really well. The audience loved it and strangers came up to me afterwards to tell me how funny I was.
